Welcome back to WAMA!! We are proceeding with the hopes that we will be able to conduct the normal overnight WAMA in Sept. If that does not work out, we will adapt and overcome. As of now, Aug 11th, here are the course offerings for September.

Marksmanship Training – limited to 20 cadets.

This class is provided through the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Hunter Education program and the NRA. They will provide the instructors and firearms and conduct all the training. This is the official NRA program that allows cadets to fire rifles and to qualify for the marksmanship medal that is worn on the blues uniform.

Requirements to participate:

1. Complete Hunter Education Class on line at home. Cost is $25. Proof of course completion will need to be submitted at sign in. (If you already have a card, just bring it to sign in.) Website is: https://www.hunter-ed.com/washington/

2. Complete WAMA application and sign up for the WAMA Marksmanship course. There is an extra cost for this course along with the usual WAMA fee also to cover the materials, use of firearms, cleaning supplies, and medals. This cost is $25 and will be added to the $45 fee for the weekend. So total amount for the course is $70. Additional forms will be needed: DFW Permission Form signed by parents and CAP Form 60-81 with parent and Squadron approval for Washington cadets. The DFW Permission Form will be emailed to you when you register.

Aerospace Education: Civil Engineering, Towers, and Tour - Open to seniors and cadets

Through Engineering Design Process and hands-on activities, students will have the opportunity to act as civil engineers to meet design objectives within limitations. To keep with the theme of the 20th anniversary of 9/11/2001, we will study and build towers or skyscrapers using a variety of materials.

This class will also take a tour to Cashmere WA on Saturday morning to participate in the 20 year remembrance of 9/11 at 1100 to the 9/11 Spirit of America site, ceremonies will take place with the guest speaker being Todd Beamer’s father, David Beamer. This class is limited to 20 students.

O’Flight Course

Unfortunately, it has been neessary to cancel Orientation Flights this month due to unforeseen maintenance issues with the aircraft. Orientation flights will be rescheduled in the future.

DFAC Course - Open to Seniors and Cadets

The Dining Facility Course is offered to Senior Members and Cadets who enjoy working in the culinary arena. In other words, they enjoy cooking or would like to find out if they do. Cadets should be at least a C/SrA to apply. There is no grade requirement for Senior Members. Attention to detail, ability to follow directions, creativity, math skills and a positive outlook will help you in this class.
