AEROSPACE/CYBER EDUCATION - Cryptography (from Caesar Cipher to Enigma Machine) - Sign In at 1330 - Class Time: 1400-1600

In this training, students will explore Cryptography (see CAP Cyber Module, pages 8 to 15). Participants will learn the difference between codes, ciphers and encryption. This will be illustrated through hands-on activities.

Materials needed:

  • 2 round plastic lids of 2 to 6 inches in diameter

  • 2 tubes of different diameters and of at least 4 inches in length (inner roll of toilet paper, paper towel, or wrapping paper; large markers, flash lights, tubing...)

  • 1 empty cylindrical can of chips (snack size or full size of Pringles or other brand with same diameter)

  • some strips of paper of about half-inch width, and at least 11 inches long

  • adhesive tape, pencil, scissors, ruler, 1 paper clip, 1 round head fastener

Print outs needed:

Activity documents will be emailed after registration so that you could print them prior to the training.

If you do not have a printer, or are missing some materials, make sure to contact Maj Kacmarcik at least one week in advance to allow time for acquisition and shipping to you.

EMERGENCY SERVICES - Introductory Communications User Training (ICUT) - Sign In at 1130 - Class Time: 1200-1330

This class is taught by veteran and experienced CAP Communications Officers. It is designed to cover basic radio operations and the responsibilities communicators have within the CAP Mission. You must complete the Basic GES Course in eservices prior to attending this class. Having a copy of CAPR 100-1 during the class will be helpful.
